It spans all kinds of religious, political and ideological causes, and targets a wide variety of victims in order to draw attention to the terrorists’ cause. Yet, government actions alone cannot bring an end to this devastating global trend.
The fight against terrorism requires a consistent effort by private citizens to prepare for and help prevent the next terrorist attack. Action taken today by citizens, families and business owners serve to enhance the resilience of our communities tomorrow.

The CELL is a non-profit (501c3), non-partisan organization founded in 2004. It is a subsidiary of the Mizel Museum and is funded through private donations.
Upon opening in the fall of 2008, The CELL will receive funding through visitor admissions fees. Yet, patron fees only assist to defray the cost of select expenditures.
The CELL requires on-going support from private citizens and businesses in order to continue its mission of educating the public about the grave threat of terrorism, encouraging community members to actively enhance their level of disaster preparedness, and remembering and paying tribute to those whose lives have been changed forever by an act of terrorism.

Terrorists can find financial support through state sponsors, individuals and even through charities and businesses, some of which are set up as legitimate fronts for illegitimate terrorist activity.
For example, Iran provides an estimated $100 million annually to Hezbollah. And, the Islamic Africa Relief Agency operated in Missouri as a Sudanese charity, when it in fact provided funds to al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and Hamas.
Since an Executive Order was signed in September 2001, the U.S. has frozen more than $300 million in assets of individuals and groups that provide support to terrorist organizations on the lists maintained by the U.S. government.
